I did it! I finished Yannick’s space quilt in time for Christmas! It was tight and I admit that I was still finishing the last few stitches of the binding two days prior to the big day but who cares?! It’s done and it made it under the Christmas tree! π€
I already made the rockets and UFOs a few months ago, but accumulating all the stars took me a bit longer than expected. I made two different sizes, three and four inches, choosing solid and discreetly patterned fabrics in bright blue and green hues. Like the space vehicles they’re paper-pieced and I really like how they stand out against the dark night sky!
It is always such an amazing feeling to finally see all the elements of a quilt come together in the end – stars, rockets, monster aliens – yey! I chose a striped green binding and of course Yannick also got his personal dedication in one of the corners!
But the best thing: he actually really likes his new blanket! So glad he’s still into the space theme!Β And of course it was quite nice to tuck him into his new space quilt for the first time last night! Sweet dreams, mein kleiner Schatz! π

Thanks, Angela!
The other two monsters will get simpler quilts though, this one was way too much work! π
