My Space Shenanigans quilt pattern series is finally complete! Phew!
Look at those happy quilt blocks! Even though I’ve literally spent years with these guys (intermittently but nonetheless), they still make me smile each time.
The original idea of making space themed quilt blocks dates back to a quilt I made for our oldest son about three years ago (click here for more details). It was one of my first foundation paper piecing projects ever and I was delighted with how the space ships came out! But despite several requests transferring it into a pattern did not happen until I went for another creative round and designed more space-themed elements.
Ironically, I ended up publishing quilt patterns for an astronaut, four dancing robots and a bunch of cheeky Martians before I came back to my initial rocket designs.
But I did and today, Star Cruisers, the fourth and last pattern of my Space Shenanigans series released, woohoo! And with that, the four patterns shown below are now not only available individually, but also as a pattern bundle:
(You get to enjoy a sweet discount: 4 patterns at the price of 3.)
Each pattern includes instructions for an independent project. But – and that’s what I love most about them – you can also mix and match their blocks to create completely new quilt layouts!
How about this Party Planet for example?!

Project ideas
There are so many possibilities to combine the four patterns:
- Make a bunch of space folks pillows!
- Add a starry sky and a rocket to the background above the astronaut and make a larger quilt!
- Accessorize your Martians with some flying saucers!
- Or create a scene with multiple planets!
Can’t wait what other projects and layouts you guys come up with!
As always, please share your creations on social media using the hashtag #SpaceShenanigansQuilt! And keep an eye out for new combinations and layouts published in my Pattern Blender!
