It’s already been a little while since the release of my latest quilt pattern, River Rocks, and while I presented the amazing makes of my trusted testers on Instagram, I still didn’t give them their well-deserved moment to shine on my blog. So here we go! (You can find each quilter’s Instagram handle in the picture captions if you’d like to see more of their work.)
Paige went for these gorgeous green and orange hues – so fresh! I may want a cantaloupe smoothie now… And that quilting!
Debora stitched up this beauty – the bold colours remind me of Pocahontas!
And again, wavy lines quilting. The association with river water flowing over the rocks seems obvious… 😉
And more happy colours and wavy lines! Check out Kat’s beautiful quilt!
Anna inverted the colour values and chose a dark background with pastel rocks. The effect is just amazing! And look at that sparkly water!
And you wouldn’t want to have a real Kiwi test for you without getting a taste of the amazing New Zealand landscapes. This picture was taken in Makara.
Tori went for a stunning ombre effect with her rocks and found a really fun sheet for the backing. Hello, little kayakers!
Tori even took her quilt on one of her amazing camping trips to get these fantastic “quilts in the wild” pictures!
Jodie made this beautiful baby quilt.
Not sure if anyone here shares my thoughts, but these blues combined with the other colours and that zigzag quilting make me thing of glass marbles. Jodie is selling fabric bundles for this colour combo through her online store Scribbly Gum Quilt Co. Go check it out! But be warned – there are also tons of other fabric bundles that you might fall in love with!
And some of Sidney’s skyline and handsome Duffron with his matching bandana. Of course!
Judy stitched together this pretty!
And who wouldn’t want to have this beauty hanging off their truck, eh Kathy?!
And then there was this other River Rocks quilt. You can barely tell from the picture below, but Stephanie’s creation measures only 8.5″ x 8.5″ total. That means the entire quilt top is smaller than the largest rock in the regular River Rocks pattern… simply mind-blowing!
A big thank you again to all these amazing testers who put in their time, energy and materials to help me get this pattern ready! I am still amazed that people from all over the world just find each other over social media to build a team for a quilting project like this! That is true passion!

ooooohhhhh! I’ve been seeing this cool quilt pattern and wondered whether this will work with scrappy pebbles against a plain background? Almost everyone’s quilts use a solid fabric for the pebbles.
Astrid says
Yes, you can make a scrappy version! The largest pieces you’d need for the pebbles are 9.5” x 9.5” and the pattern includes a table for all the pieces if you’re not following the suggested 6 colour layout. Hope this helps!
