I’m not going to lie – this shade of pink is not my colour. But it is my sister’s – and that’s who I made this Pocket Crown zipper pouch for.
I most definitely never anticipated combining a Carolyn Friedlander print with black and white gingham and a raspberry pink floral, but look at this rocking trio!
I used the 5″x5″ block size from my Pocket Crown pattern (the pattern also includes 3″x3″, 4″x4″, 6″x6″ and 12″x12″ templates), added borders to the sides and contrasting black and white gingham for the bottom and the back of the pouch.
For the quilting I used the fabric itself as a guide and just sewed a pink line through every second diagonal of black squares. It was my first time doing this but I really like how the pink stitches totally transform the character of the gingham!
Then I added a zipper with tabs, a matching handle and lined the pouch with the same fabric as the crown. I even found some perfectly matching beads in my beads jar to finish off the zipper!
The resulting dimensions of the pouch were a bit random as I didn’t really plan ahead but I think it can still be used for multiple things.
Now I wanna make one for myself – just using a different accent colour! 😛
