Hello there! I wish you could see my little happy dance for all of you who are excited about my upcoming Cozy Holidays Collection and quilt-along! 💛
For those of you who are a bit nervous about it being a foundation paper piecing project, I have good news: I made a video tutorial to help you sew your first block, the beautiful and festive Evergreen. You’ll see, it’s not as scary as you think!
So, please gather the tools and materials listed below and get ready!
List of tools and materials
- Copy of Evergreen pattern (see download button under video)
- Paper scissors
- Rotary cutter and cutting mat
- Ruler (standard or add-a-quarter ruler)
- Fabrics: about 1 FQ or 1/4 yd for background (generous estimate) + scraps for the tree details
- Thread that blends with your fabrics
- Sewing machine
Got everything? Perfect – just hit play and follow along every step!
And remember: You can always pause and/or rewind if you need time to catch up with your own block or re-watch a portion of the video. Good luck!
Now, the Evergreen block is admittedly one of the simplest blocks of the Cozy Holidays Collection. But although some of the other blocks might be a bit more detailed with smaller pieces, the principles to make them are still the same. Over the course of the QAL, we’ll start with the simplest blocks and work our way towards the more challenging ones. So fear not! By the time we get to the trickiest blocks, you’ll have gained lots of FPP practice and confidence!
I’m looking forward to seeing you in the QAL!
